FRENT protocol fee
The current terminal contract applies a fixed fee:
- $0.01 for payments below $10.
- $0.10 for payments from $10.
The fee is split by the contract in the successful customer transaction. FRENT does not add a percentage-based fee or monthly subscription.
Network gas
Gas is separate and is not set by FRENT. The merchant pays gas to deploy each terminal. The customer pays gas for the USDC approval when required and for the payment transaction. Base uses ETH; Polygon uses POL.
Gas can change with network conditions. A payment request does not reserve or guarantee a gas price.
Failed and expired requests
Creating or expiring a request does not itself move USDC or transfer the FRENT protocol fee. A failed onchain transaction can still consume network gas because validators processed it.
Article FAQ
Common questions.
Is gas included in the displayed FRENT fee?
No. Gas is a separate blockchain cost paid in ETH on Base or POL on Polygon.
Who pays terminal deployment gas?
The merchant wallet approving the deployment pays that network gas.
